I'm not a centipede person, but I picked up this chap at the BTS show today after it tried to bite me, can anyone give me an ID (I think this species is pretty common in the hobby) and any caretips?

Totally agree with ryan, but I don't know if this sp. is the same than the s. miriabilis.

Hi Oliver,

It looks like it could be a Scolopendra sp. "Neon Legged", but it's hard to say. How big is it? It looks pretty small, so it could just be a brightly coloured juvenile of one of any number of species.

Either way, the care for small Scolopendra is much the same regardless of the species, i.e keep it relatively humid but with adequate ventelation, and feed once every two weeks.

Cheers,

Hi

Its always hard to say which species!
There is also a species of S. cingulata in Israel that looks very similar to S. spec. neon blue leg!

Thanks for all the replies.

Its about 10cm long, discounting the antenna, is Scolopendra sp. "Neon Legged" the best ID possible from photos?

But I have some photos; I bought her as a Trachycormocephalus sp. (Tanzania) =(?) Scolopendra mirabilis:

Best regards

I have no idea :( I had two specimens. They didn`t want to eat much. One died about 4 months ago, the second two days ago... And really I have no idea what did them kill:(

Looks exactly like sp. "Neon legged", but is that synonymous with mirabilis?:?
