I am going to order a P. liosoma and was given the choice of what sex I want, I am wondering if the sex makes a difference at all, size, looks etc..

If I was you I would get a female!!!There chela are alot thinner than the males which I like(but I'm not you).And plus it could always be gravid;P

Females are generally A little bigger, and overall more robust than the males. Males will tend to have a "thinner look"
As for activity Male's appear to be a little more hide oriented than the fems. Like my P.Transvaalicus fems as well they tend to forage and be out and about more often.

I'm not sure with this species but females also tend to live longer.
