With weights like that, I would assume they are more bully... 60lbs is heavy for an APBT male, let alone a female! MOST UKC dogs are bully or atleast show bred, so are heavier than gamebred APBTs.

Either way... as long as you're happy with your pup and she's healthy, that's all that matters!

very pretty pup! i have never had a pitbull, normaly i prefur german shepards, but you cant say they arent gurgus! lol a freind of mine has one of those massive pitbulls, he weighted in at 145lbs the other week. people say pits are dangrus and mean, but this massive dog was playing in a 2 and 4 year old kids with no problems. with pits that have been trained to kill other dogs in the ring i dont think its possible to get it out of them, but people have and should try to. again very pretty pup and i hope you have her for a LOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGGG time!

If it weighs 145 pounds, it was no Pit Bull Terrier, that's for certain! The breed standard in UKC calls for an animal between 35 and 60 pounds, and the AKC AmStaff standard(the show version of the APBT)calls for a MALE to be no more than 19 1/2 inches at the shoulder, with 18 inches being considered ideal. That's not a big dog at all. I could still lift and carry my largest males back when I still bred these dogs, and often DID carry them into the woods until the Catahoulas bayed up a wild hog, and I'm only 5' 2". Like I said in an earlier post, there are a LOT of breeders out there crossbreeding APBT's to American Bulldogs, Cane Corso Mastiffs, Neopolitan Mastiffs, Bullmastiffs and Dogue de Bordeaux Mastiffs(the Turner and Hooch breed) just to get these huge, massively-built, mostly-blue dogs that they can sell for big bucks as "Pit Bulls", knowing that people who normally are attracted to a huge, mean-looking, intimidating dog with strong guarding instincts will readily shell out a couple of K's to have one, while passing up a real APBT. You don't see many wannabe thugs walking 35-pound dogs these days; they want something as huge and thick as possible, so there are unscupulous breeders who will be happy to sell them a mixed-breed Mastiff to placate their insecure egos. The "T" in APBT stands for TERRIER, after all, and terrier breeds are not going to be huge dogs. The other reason, besides huge size, that some of these breeders(who often have well-known kennel names, frequently assoicated with shaving instuments or Mafia figures)use Mastiff crosses is to get a dog that has a guard dog temperament, since real APBTS are NOT guard dog material at all! Game dog breeders culled(as in killed)any dogs which showed any aggression towards humans whatsoever, for whatever reason, and as a result, you have a breed which doesn't understand the concept of "stranger" or that not all humans are nice. That is why it's so easy to steal these dogs, to just drive up in someone's yard and load up dogs into your car or truck and go, with the dogs happily wagging and licking your face, even though they've never seen you before and you are taking them away from their home. I lost four generations of my dogs in one afternoon, from little barely-weaned puppies to their 11 1/2-year-old great-great grandmother, to dog thieves, and that's one of the reason I do not breed APBTs any longer. I can't go through that again. You couldn't do that with my Catahoula Leopard Dogs, with that Molosser guarding temperament, I can assure you.

145 lbs pit is redic, has to be some cross breeding to get it up to that size. My female is about 40 lbs and my male is about 65 lbs, both reds. From what i know about the blue's they can get prity big but maintain a really short leg height, they almost grow wider then they are tall. I wish i had the money to get a blue, but the 2 pits i have now are already a handfull lol.

Color shouldn't have anything to do with conformation, or how the dog is built. That is a product of selective breeding for such. A lot of the blue dogs nowadays are the results of cross-breeding to heavy, stocky Mastiff-type breeds, which is why so many blue "pit bulls" aren't built like APBTs at all, but more like those other breeds. Ideally, this should be a breed with a "square" profile-roughly about the same length from chest to the root of the tail as it is tall from ground to shoulder. One old "dog man" told me he liked to see the same amount of "daylight" underneath the dog as the depth of the dog's chest(brisket)from the top of the shoulder blade to the elbow joint. A short, low-slung dog definitely has little manuverability, that's for sure, especially when hog-hunting, since it can't get over the underbrush or fallen trees. My second female was a blue-and-white who had a lot of old Boudreaux in her, as well as Carver, and Boudreax actually had blue in the background of his dogs many years ago, although more recently he had really concentrated on solid black dogs. "Princess" weighed 38 pounds in condition, and could jump up on top of the refrigerator from a dead stand-still, like a cat. I'd love to see some of these blue hippo wannabes nowadays do that! Most folks today probably would not have even recognized her as a APBT, since she didn't have that huge head or massive chest that so many people associate with the breed. She was a very athletic little dog who didn't seem to comprehend the meaning of "tired", lol.

She's a lovely girl!

night4now - blue is a REALLY commonly overbred colour, you could find one easily lol

Boudreax dogs are just awesome little things! A friend of mine has a Boudreax (all the way through) girl.. she's the most gorgeous little thing!

Personally, I like my APBTs a little more on the terrier side... from what I've seen personally, it does add athleticism.
