Maybe it was a bit of a generalization, but.... yeah

I CANNOT wait for my little guy to look like that. of course its a 1" sling, so I'll be 30 before I see any color from him.

Hi Josh, the specimen you speak of is likely an Aphonopelma serratum or Aphonopelma anitahoffmannae, both are native to Mexico as well.

i have found individuals TWICE as orange as this one. there is a particular locality that is STUNNINGLY orange. this picture is a very good representation of the species however. nice specimen for sure. thank you for posting that pic.

no, the spider we found was neither of these. from what i understand, the newly described annitahoffmannae is a montane species. i know a few individuals who have gone and collected these. the spider i found is not a montane species but rather more a chihuahuan desert/plains species. it was MUCH prettier than any picture of serratum or Ahoffmannae that i have seen. this thing was gorgeous. by far the most beautiful aphonopelma i have ever seen and i have seen some really pretty aphonopelma.

I can't imagine an Aphonopelma with the same description that could be prettier than this one; but I'll trust you on it. I'm sure there are ones which haven't been noted by many.

yeah, im telling you man, it was a better looking, cleaner looking spider than that one. the setae were not orange either. they were a TRUE light rose pink. PINK as all heck. i have yet to see an aphonopelma as pretty as that spider. i was impressed.
