Yeah, I'd switch to metal as well.

I switched from plastic to metal two weeks ago. IME its not the T's chewing through the screen but crix.

Yesterday I saw a crix run up the corkbark and start chewing its way out.

I have most of my screens converted now.

holy crap!(no pun intended) thats just crazy!

Nerri, so what did you end up doing?

so far its just my two pokies doing all the chewing. and there not going to be in these enclosures for too long but in the mean time i need to figure something out. given some though im not sure i want to switch to metal screen because of the potential for it stabbing my Ts.

i may try t start misting from the top so my Ts may be discouraged from even getting near the screen in the first place.

I usually use drilled holes but was thinking of trying what is sold as 'dog proof' screen, obviously made to resist dog scratching damage. Feels more like it's fiberglass than metal but it has a very heavy coating of urethane, pretty tough and resilient stuff. Looks like the coating cuts down on the % of opening a bit but like the soldered/galvi stuff TKG recommends would serve to cover the intersections that on non coated mesh that can snag claws. I've seen a couple legs left hanging on screen...

I would suggest melting holes with a soldering iron http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...atalogId=10053. You can get them at Home Depot for $18. Once you get good with it, you will be able to produce really clean looking holes.

I just drill holes... though a few of mine had little screens in the lids... but I've never seen any of the Ts get near 'em.

I have to agree with the hole suggestions. Yeah it can take time to get the amount of holes you need for good ventilation, but at least your Ts won't be gnawing their way out. I have drilled several arboreal enclosures up, I usually use some medium sized holes with lots of small holes clustered around them.
