Maybe you're referring to Apistobuthus?

Yeah but make sure you read that warning. I guess the venom for that species is pretty potent..

Seems like I've heard they are hard to take care of. But I wouldn't believe that, so many things flying around, I'd try it if you have a chance to get any. Some people have a bad experience and think "that's how it is" for them and everybody else. I've wanted to mess around with this sp but won't unless I just happened to come across it. It's really weird! Why does it have a tail like that?!....

There's a sub acuelus in many scorpions... I think a couple species have a more pronounced one.

The sub aculeus is most commonly found in the genus Tityus

Is it more common in Tityus than Centruroides? More species I suppose...
Maybe it is just that most of us are much more likely to come across Centruroides that Tityus... Regardless...also very common with Centruroides sp. John ];')

Definitely hard to keep (even that may be an understatement), very finicky about temps and humidity. Might find one in Europe but not likely.

John,
Yes, just over 3 times as many documented species of Tityus (203) as Centruroides (71) and none are said to not have a subaculear tubercle; whereas, not all Centruroides are known for bearing such a feature. But yes, Centruroides, Tityus, Lychas, and so on and so forth down the line are known to produce species with afformentioned feature.
