new Cotinis mutabilis (fig beetle) imago

It "eclosed" (thanks What) about a day ago and the elytra have almost completely finished changing color. However, the other wings are still extended, the abdomen has barely a hint of green, and its movements have looked difficult since the molt. Is this normal? How long should it take?

guess it's not normal; looks like it's about to die. the wings have turned an attractive iridescent purple though.

That's one of the most difficult species to get to pupate correctly and they generally don't survive without a perfect pupal cell.

ah, that's a little comforting. it was fascinating to see it get up to this stage anyway.
