2" T. Blondi, missing pedipalp question
This winter I got a 1.5" T. Blondi from Botar, it molted once, no problems that I noticed.
Then 1 day (weeks later) I noticed it was missing 1 pedipalp, it seemed fine, no big deal, it will grow back. 10-14 days ago it molted again and as it did out came the new pedipalp about half the size of the other and it was very very white. The pedipalp did not seem to have hairs on it like the other did and generally was not being used much at all. Since the molt that pedipalp has grown worse looking, it has never gained the normal coloration of the rest of the T. The end of the palp looks brownish and almost shriveled. The blondi seems fine and goes about it's business in a normal manner, it is very responsive to my presence or any vibration or light in or around its enclosure. Has anyone seen something like this before? Do I need to intervene? I know pictures are always best, I can try to post 1 tomorrow. |

It just may take a couple of more molts. Sounds like she's doing fine

Yeah, the pedipalp is not going to fully regenerate at the first molt- it takes a couple of molts. A re-generating body part will look wonky, smaller and sort of "shrunken"-for lack of a better word, until it's fully grown back.
