Scientific name, whatever...

What T latin name do you find yourself enjoying saying the most?
I think I enjoy braunshauseni the most. Just rolls off the tongue :D
Pterinochilus is also quite enjoyable, and when you say it, sounds kinda like you're describing a dinosaur, hehe.
Acanthoscurria is lovely ;)

Not to mention they make you look smart when you tell them to people who know nothing of T's ;)

I guess my number one is Acanthoscurria geniculata. Yes indeed it's beautiful.

The most difficult though in my oppinion are Citharischius crawshayi when it comes to typing it and Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens when it comes to saying and typing it :) but that's off topic so I only say the above when I see the apropriate thread about it :D

What a fun and interesting thread by the way! I've thought about the same too... :)

i've had my chromatopelma cyaneopubescens for over 1 year now... and I have to admit that i've finally learned the entire name TODAY!! its the first time I write it without copying it from my note pad ( im soo proud of me ) ... what a crazy name!!! my brain just always refused to even try to learn it , but its done

my Favorite one would be Acanthoscurria Geniculata , as it was my first spider I have no trouble at all with this one :D

Hysterocrates hercules (sounds like a philosophical super hero)

P.S. Don't want to be a pedantic geek but the scientific names are a combination of Greek and Latin. Genus is usually Greek spicies is Latin. (blame Linnaeus)

Interesting... that one always reminded me of Italian entrees. "Mmmm... Mom's making manicata tonight!"

I'd say my favorite is Avicularia versicolor, due to ease of pronounciation.

Chromatopelma cyanopubescens
Citharischius crawshayi (I just love the Craw Shay Eye) - sounds badass! Pamphobeteus antinuos
Heteroscodra maculata (I call it the Immaculata).

..............The Best............
Cyclosternum fasciatum-(Cyclosternum sounds so... Destructive!)

Hehe.. I think Theraphosa apophysis almost sounds like some serious skin disease... somehow cool but I wouldn't wish that hairy disease on anyones arms or face ;)

Two of my favorites

Xenesthis immanis sounds cool. "immanis" reminds me of "immense"
I also like Monocentropus balfouri. I like this because I am a hockey fan and one of my favorite goalies is Eddie Belfour. I also agree with Soulsick...crawshayi does sound bad-ass!

I don't want to disappoint you, but C. fasciatum is no longer the official name for that species. It was recently renamed back to the old name Davus fasciatus.

I like Ceratogyrus darlingi. Sounds like it's a real darling there but in fact it's a real bitch. :D
I also like Nhandu. Has a nice ring to it.

Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens

A few more syllables and it could be a haiku all alone.(Metallic blue legs)

It can be pronounced(and mis-pronounced) several different ways and they are all fun to say.
Funny question - I actually had this one pegged as a favorite to say/write already and felt a bit odd about that.
Either we are ALL a bit strange, or I feel much better.
