I have had my Camponotus Pennsylvanicus colony consisting of just a queen and worker with no brood for one year. The queen finally laid her second egg. I wonder why growth is so slow. I know this is the largest species of carpenter ant and takes the longest to develop. But one egg every 3 months? Something doesn't feel right. Is this normal or atypical?
