Is it true tarantulas "smell" their own / other tarantulas?

If so I wss thinking, does it help them acclimate to a new enclosure if you top it off with substrate from their previous own so it smells like home?

I just rehomed my T. Apophysis from a 5 gallon to a 10 gallon. I topped the substrate off with some of her old substrate, webbing etc.

I was prepared for the normal 1-5 business days of hide and sulk, but she left her hide and seemed to fairly casually explore the new digs within minutes.

I'm wondering if the recycled substrate helps and could be a good way going forward to help acclimate Ts to new enclosures.

It might also help that I kept the layout the same, she just got more depth.

Tarantula Setae act as Sensory Organs, helping Tarantulas Smell, Taste, Touch and Detect vibrations.
